Life is Predictably Unexpected (Five Minute Friday: Because)

bigstock-One-Red-Apple-On-A-Background-38237647-e1374873001751I enjoy orderly things.

Expected outcomes. When everything makes sense.

Repeatable and Reliable.

1+2=3
a sunrise in the East
the right ingredients at the right temperature for the right amount of time coming out of the oven just as planned

I enjoy the unexpected.

Glimpses of miracles. “What just happened” moments.

Exciting and Energizing.

a surprising plot twist
flowers growing in the cracks of concrete
a rain cloud in an otherwise clear-blue sky
a comeback by the underdog

The interweaving of these is the stuff of life.

The Just Cause. And the Just Because.

  1. The orderly and the unexpected . . . yes, I love them both too. I love those unexpected God moments . . . the love He shows just because. Beautiful post, Beth. xoxo

  2. beautiful images!

  3. I love the mingling of the expected and unexpected in your desires, Beth. As much as we are ‘certain ways,’ we are certainly still not able to squeeze into formulas ourselves, eh? This, as you said, is the stuff of life and being human that is beautiful. And I LOVE flowers growing in the cracks of concrete – just gotta say. ;-D
    xoxo

    • Fitting into a formula or Finding freedom in grace. That, most certainly, is the story of my life!

  4. I love when we are reminded of the miracles. Sometimes we can get so caught up in the just cause of everyday, that we forget the miracles and the tender mercies that surround us. Love the reminder. Thank you.

    • It’s such a push-pull, isn’t it. I do really and truly love the unexpected ways He shows up all around us. But I also often wish for a clearer view of what’s coming next. I am always, always learning that He who brings wonderful things ALWAYS has wonderful plans for me. Thanks for being here.

  5. The only thing that stays the same is change! Thankfully, our God never does. It’s nice when we can get to the place that we “enjoy the unexpected”. Thanks for the reminder that change is okay, Beth.

    • Yes, Heather. I, too, find great comfort that He is always the same, but also that I always am experiencing Him in new ways. Such a beautiful mystery isn’t it.
