Five Minute Friday: Community

Our paths are as different as our smiles. But for this moment, they converge. So we join hands and walk it together.

Wake in the night to pray for another. Respond to the promptings to share scripture that speaks into each other’s lives.

Laugh. Cry. Reflect. Laugh more. We laugh a lot.

People say you can worship God anywhere. It’s true. I’ve done it. Alone on a lakeshore. In a crowded concert hall.

But the fragrance of praise is rarely as sweet as when we sit together in vulnerability; we cheer each other towards courage; we lift each other in prayer. We declare, like Ruth to Naomi, “Your people will be my people.” We mean it. And everyone there knows it.

It’s more than community.

It feels like home.

This one meant lots. I forwarded it to our home group! Thanks.

  2. To have had the joy of sitting in this circle of vulnerability with you— makes this reading so precious to me. You captured the heart of our fellowship– and I praise God for giving you the vision to bring us together into the circle of His presence where we could ponder His highest and best for us and to us and through us. Thank you for using your giftedness in so many ways to be a blessing to me an others!

    Oh, Beth. Just wow.

“But the fragrance of praise is rarely as sweet as when we sit together in vulnerability” . . . this is the very heart of community, I think.

Thanks for these profound musings. Really inspired by your words.

  4. Beautiful. Just beautiful!
