An Early Exhale (Five Minute Friday)
Written June 2013 and reposting today with Five Minute Friday. Because it’s still the reminder I need over and over again. Because grace is still the only reason I know that makes it safe to exhale.

I catch myself from time to time holding my breath. I’ve noticed it about myself for many years now.
Waiting for news. A potential change. A diagnosis. Acceptance to college. A new job. The days when each month hinged on “am I pregnant?”
Do they want me? Am I healthy? Is everything going to happen the way I want?
We are waiting on some job news for my husband right now. And this morning I thought how nice it will be when we know. When I can exhale.
But what if I just exhaled now?
Because it’s out of my control anyway.
Because the One who does have the control is faithful.
Because Grace is teaching me to walk with new trust.
Because even if I fall, His love cushions it.
Because of this:
Not For a Moment (After All) by Meredith Andrews (CLICK to watch the video. Seriously. You won’t regret it!)
You were reaching through the storm
And walking on the water
Even when I could not see
In the middle of it all
When I thought You were a thousand miles away
Not for a moment did You forsake me
Not for a moment did You forsake me
And after all You are constant
After all You are only good
After all You are sovereign
Not for a moment will You forsake me
You were singing in the dark
And whispering Your promise
Even when I could not hear
I was held in Your arms
Carried for a thousand miles to show
Not for a moment did You forsake me
And after all You are constant
After all You are only good
After all You are sovereign
Not for a moment will You forsake me
Not for a moment will You forsake me
And every step every breath you are there
Every tear every cry every prayer
In my hurt at my worst
When my world falls down
Not for a moment will You forsake me
even in the dark
even when its hard
you will never leave
after all
And after all You are constant
After all You are only good
After all You are sovereign
Not for a moment will You forsake me
Not for a moment will You forsake me
Not for a moment will You forsake me

Oh, yes, let’s go ahead and exhale and trust and fall into God’s abundant grace. It’s so much more comforting and relaxing than constantly holding our breath, isn’t it?! I have to keep reminding myself…

It is such a daily reminder, yes. Thanks for stopping by.
Not for a moment will He forsake you or your family. I pray the news you’re expecting comes soon, but definitely in God’s timing and perfect will. Love your post.
Visiting from the first time from 5MF.
God bless,
Indeed. I would always rather it be in his timing. A very important reminder during the exhaling. Thank you.
Great post, and good reminder that we need not hold our breath…no need for anger. No need for fear. He is in control. He is our Peace. Blessings to you Beth! I like your blog design! 🙂
So glad we landed next to each other at Five Minute Friday today. I really enjoyed your post, too. There is time to do things slowly, yes. Time for exhale. Time for grace. Thanks for coming by.
